Where To Eat




Cape Charles is home to a number of local restaurants to please everyone.

With amazing water views, one can’t go wrong with the Oyster Farm or The Shanty. The Oyster Farm is ideal for a special dinner or fine dining and boasts an impressive menu with local seafood. The Shanty, another local favorite, features casual dining with great local fresh caught seafood with something for everyone on the menu. 

 

There are a variety of places that also serve breakfast along with lunches and dinners. The Coastal Baking Company or the Bakery on Mason are excellent local bakeries that both feature breads, sweets, and sandwiches. Rayfield’s Pharmacy has been serving up affordable breakfasts and lunches for decades and is a unique experience not to be missed. The Cape Charles Coffee House is a great choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner and also serve wine and beer. The food is excellent and the restaurant is located in an old bank.  Dacha’s Russian Tea House has an assortment of Russian baked favorites, lunch fare, and a wonderful selection of teas from around the world. 

 Kelly’s Pub, located in the old bank building, allows you to dine in the vault on delicious sandwiches or homemade She Crab soup, all while sipping on handcrafted cocktails at the bar. The Cape Charles Brewery is a fun spot with great outdoor space with activities offers an assortment of craft beer with a great menu as well.  Cape Charles Distillery features great drink selections along with wine. Buskey’s Cider on the Bay is a great place to cool down and enjoy adult beverages in a relaxed environment.

 

Deadrise Pies, is the homemade pizzeria in town, has their own unique creations or you can design your own. A great family place or ideal for carryout after a long day at the beach. The Ambrogia Caffé & Enoteca has a delicious assortment of sandwiches ideal for lunch or dinner. Tim’s Place also boasts sandwiches and dinners in a casual no fuss atmosphere. The Coach House Tavern, located in Bay Creek, offers the best steaks in town in an inviting setting overlooking the golf course.

 

A visit to Cape Charles would not be complete without a visit the famous Brown Dog Ice Creamery featuring homemade ice cream.  The Cape Charles Candy Company is a crowd favorite with penny candy, homemade fudge delicacies, rare sodas, and a game of cornhole just outside their door. The Peach Street Shave Shack is a little slice of heaven with flavored shaved ice perfect to keep kids cool and happy!

Southeast Expeditions offers boat rentals and guided kayak tours. Marsh Madness Fishing Charters offers beautiful scenery and an opportunity for a day of Charter Fishing. Poseidon Watersports Jet Ski Rental provides an opportunity to jet ski the Bay, a fun-filled activity for the whole family.


The Cape Charles Fishing Pier is fully lite and is an excellent location for daytime or nighttime fishing or a stroll over the water. It offers a romantic stroll with the LOVE sign located at its entrance for those must-have Cape Charles photos.

 

King’s Creek Marina and Resort and Cape Charles Town Harbor and Marina and the Cape Charles Yacht Center both all top-notch marinas that provide a place for guests arriving by boat to dock and safely leave their boat. Oystermen’s Pearl and Madison House are both walking distance to King’s Creek and the Seaside Sister’s is in close proximity to the Cape Charles Town Harbor.

 


Cape Charles, Virginia is the Eastern Shore's best kept secret! It is a mile square historic, quaint town tucked between 2 championship golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer.  The historic section is extremely walkable with sidewalks lining both sides. Marina Village is adjacent to the historical section and boosts a gated community with its own private beach.

 

This historic town has a quiet, pristine public beach that has warm shallow water ideal for children, sunbathing, kayaking, water sports, and is known to boast gorgeous sunsets. There is a harbor and a marina on either side of town and excellent restaurants nearby, along with quaint shops and boutiques.  Boat docking is available within walking distance to all of the homes.  Guests trailering their own boats will find ample street parking in town.

 

The beach is in close proximity and is walking distance from all properties. The town park is a close by with one of two town gazebos to enjoy the views. Huge open spaces for kids to play boosting summer time concerts, town events, playground, tennis courts, along with a sidewalk around the parameter for strollers and wheel chairs.

 

Seasonal events abound year-round in this quaint seaside town. Summer is exceptional with its small-town Americana feel with a 4th of July parade, summer concerts and picnics in Central Park, beach volleyball, and of course, swimming and wading in the Chesapeake Bay.  There are a variety of watercraft, kayak, and canoe rentals as well as boat tours for those that love the water!  The town has life jacket stations on the beach that are available to borrow for children.

Around The Town

Mason Avenue has galleries, antique stores, coffee shops, gift stores, a spa, canoe and kayak rentals, and an old-fashioned theater/movie theater. This small beach town guarantees to have something for everyone. Explore the beach or fishing pier and start building memories today!

 

Golf Cart rentals are a fun way to explore the town and visit area attractions. They are available at either the Eastern Shore Carts or CC Ryder Rentals. Golf carts are on a first come first served basis so we encourage guests to book early before their arrival. In Christmas, Eastern Shore Carts has rentals available for free for the lighted golf card parade with a $25 donation to a local food pantry so guests can enjoy all the holiday fun.

The Cape Charles Museum & Welcome Center is a fun place to explore this railroad town’s history and scout out fun things to do during your visit. It is also the location for the Farmer’s Market seasonally.

 The Historical Palace Theater is a well-known Cape Charles favorite offering movies and live theater performances that are enjoyed by folks of all ages.

We are a fun family of 6 who own 4 places in Cape Charles and a bed and breakfast and additional house rental business on Smith Island, MD, a small working watermen community located in the Chesapeake Bay. Nathan & I are both nurse practitioners and have over 50 years

combined experience anticipating what others need and taking care of people. As a nurse midwife and a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I have spent years taking care of families celebrating a special life event and we have extended that caring approach to vacationers looking to build special memories here in Cape Charles! We take pride in providing a unique space with everything travelers will need to make their vacation experience one they will remember fondly. We do not believe in just providing lodging, we are dedicated to ensuring you have the opportunity to build memories! Our children, Hayden, Chloe, Caroline, and Grant, have helped us learn the must-haves for hosting families and providing must have items for children of all ages.

We employ dedicated staff members who ensure our rental property business runs smoothly. We have cleaners, contractors, landscapers, and handymen who assist us in ensuring properties are well maintained. We have a property manager, John, a retired Navy Chief and close family friend, keeps us on our toes, takes reservations, provides resources, and ensures guest needs are promptly addressed. We consider these members of our team an extension of our Cape Charles family! We look forward to hosting you and your family and friends.
